In one corner, you have a well-respected and non-partisan “scientific” pollster in Nate Silver at the five-thirty-eight blog. Despite the statistical analyses he uses, Silver has been continuously accused of partisanship (his blog is supported by the NYTimes!) by conservatives, who of all things, attack his polling techniques in favor of their own predictions based on “experience” and “gut”. Well, gee – what happened (as of 12:30 a.m.)?
[290 electoral votes projected for Obama, and a Presidential victory.] So in many ways, the victory for President Obama has been a victory for the scientific method.
[Edit: Here’s a perfect one from Peggy Noonan.]
